SoN Information Technology (IT) serves the technology needs of the UW School of Nursing. The mission of SoN IT is to provide effective and reliable services, systems, and collaborative environments using a secure and stable platform of technologies in order to support faculty and staff in their research, teaching, and service activities.
Key Overall Goals
- Provide a modern, stable, and cost-effective platform of hardware, software, and services that support the ongoing success of the school.
- Provide effective support of SoN faculty and staff in their productivity, teaching, and research activities in our dynamic, hybrid work environment.
- Create and support effective collaborative facilities, services, and systems such as classroom, simulation, and meeting space A/V.
- Identify and implement emerging and innovative technologies that provide the school with research and teaching advantages.
Services
- Central Pool – a managed computing environment. Includes a modern portable computer, docking station, monitor, webcam, and other peripherals.
- Helpdesk – a single point of communication that gives customers access to all our experts and services.
- Printing – access to a variety of printing resources deployed throughout SoN facilities.
- Software – access to software commonly used by the school. This includes negotiating licensing agreements and data processing agreements and tracking license usage to maintain compliance.
- File storage – cost-effective and compliant storage solutions to support research, teaching, and administration needs. This includes consulting with faculty and staff to meet specific research study requirements.
- Intranet – an internal web infrastructure to facilitate internal SoN communication and dissemination of information.
- Website Operations
- Nursing.uw.edu – support, operation, and governance in conjunction with SoN MarCom of the school’s main website.
- WordPress Micro-sites – templated and branded websites and consulting that are available to research, teaching, and administrative groups in the SoN as an extension to the main website.
- Collaborative Spaces – lightweight A/V design, installation, and related ongoing support for meeting spaces.
- Contact Relationship Management service – operation, management, and configuration of Salesforce to enable data de-siloing and democratization. This currently provides a platform to support Student Services student engagement efforts, and CNE’s learning platform and marketing efforts.
