Welcome to SoN Learning Technologies (LT)! Our mission is to provide innovative and effective services that cater to the instructional technology and media needs of the UW School of Nursing. Our services support teaching and the broader efforts of the school by collaborating with faculty to design and develop courses and learning materials using learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.
We also offer course live media and Zoom support, high-production content creation, event media support, and SoN photography services. One-on-one training is available for faculty to help them integrate technology, course design, and new tools into their teaching practices.
SoN LT promotes cross-campus collaboration with other departments, including UWIT, library, and student services, to ensure that educational technology is integrated into the overall student experience. We conduct research and evaluate new educational technologies and tools to determine their suitability for the institution.
Furthermore, we provide guidance and support for faculty on issues related to course design pedagogy, accessibility, and engagement strategies for their classes. LT broadly partners across the school to promote the vital role of technology in enhancing students’ and teaching experience.
Key goals for SoN Learning Technologies include:
- Support the teaching effort and instructional delivery of the BSN, ABSN, and DNP core curriculum by SoN faculty.
- Support media production needs of the SoN, including events, photography, social media content, streaming, and other content development.
- Research and evaluate new technologies relevant to teaching and learning.
Partner with SoN faculty and leadership to develop strategic initiatives to improve the instructional process and implement next-generation instructional approaches. - Provide assistance to grant projects, SoN research centers, and other SoN partners.
