UW Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) provides high-quality in-person and online conferences and courses for the UW School of Nursing. CNE’s mission is to provide innovative learning experiences for the nursing profession. For more than 40 years, CNE has provided a valuable bridge to the professional nursing community through educational opportunities and programming that align with the University of Washington School of Nursing’s mission and values. We have been accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) since 1978, and our vision is to provide a spectrum of learning opportunities that refresh and support nurses throughout their careers.

Several key goals underpin the CNE program. It strives to support nurses in their career growth and license compliance while promoting healthcare equity and enhancing patient care. The program emphasizes lifelong learning by sharing pertinent research and evidence-based practices from esteemed faculty, addressing practice gaps. Collaborating closely with the regional healthcare community, it aims to meet their professional development needs and prioritize patient safety. Additionally, the program aims to expand the school’s influence by fostering connections with healthcare professionals at regional and national levels, amplifying the impact of knowledge dissemination and collaboration.
