Welcome to our new team members:

Welcome Elaina Robinson!

Join us in welcoming Elaina Robinson as the new Executive Director of Nursing Professional Development at the UW School of Nursing! With extensive experience at Seattle Children’s and Providence, Elaina brings her expertise to support skills training, preceptor training, and competency-based learning. Her initial work will focus on our SIM Educator pilot with UWMC and a “re-boot” of CNE’s Wound Management Education Program. She will also serve as a consultant across the SoN, providing faculty support and working in close partnership with the SiM Center and Learning Technologies teams. Elaina is also working on projects with Fred Hutch Cancer Center, showcasing her commitment to the nursing profession. We are excited to have her on the team look forward to her contributions across the SoN.

Welcome Nicola Contreras and Judith Ramos to SIM Center!

As Assistant Director of the SIM Center, Nicola plays a crucial role in overseeing its day-to-day activities. She ensures that scheduling and course planning align with the simulation center’s timelines, develops a quarterly activity plan, and implements policies and procedures that align with industry standards. Nicola also analyzes data, identifies areas for improvement, and collaborates with course faculty to develop and evaluate simulation and active learning activities.

In addition to managing the logistics of the simulation center, Nicola coordinates the delivery of undergraduate and graduate labs, ensures compliance with accreditation and state regulations, and plays a crucial role in maintaining the SIM Center’s reputation for excellence.

As Simulation Program Coordinator, Judith is responsible for ensuring that the SIM Center operates smoothly and effectively. She plays a critical role in coordinating and implementing the day-to-day activity plan, managing scheduling and coordination of classes and events, and ensuring that undergraduate and graduate classes have the supplies and equipment they need. With Judith’s support, students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment, enabling them to gain the practical skills they need to succeed. Judith also oversees financial management and data analysis. She manages the billing of external customers and events, updating and maintaining inventory records of equipment and supplies, and processing and summarizing SIM Center data.

Welcome Ade Chu to CNE!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Ade Chu (PhD, MEd, RN) the new Associate Director of Continuing Nursing Education as she begins her next position with the UW School of Nursing!
In this role, Ade will be working with Pascale Kellens and the CNE team to provide high-quality training programs and conferences to meet the continuing education needs of RNs and advanced practice nurses. You may already know Dr. Chu from her work with the UW School of Nursing as a Clinical Assistant Professor since 2013. We are very excited to have Ade working with us in CNE as we continue our new online programming and return to in-person conferences.

Fond Farewells

Farewell, Tina Hayashi (CNE) – May 31

After eight months with the Continuing Nursing Education, Tina Hayashi will now be heading over to the UW School of Medicine/Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science for a new opportunity as a Program Operations Specialist supporting their residency/fellowship programs. Tina did an exceptional job supporting our the specialty programs: Foundations for School Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing Update and Certification Review, and Wound Management Fundamentals Course since the retirement of Patty Morrison. Thank you, Tina! Best of luck in your new adventure.
